Welcome to Studio Notes
Studio Notes is where we share our practice: her uninhibited mark-making paired with my editing and composition. Not to “fix” what she makes—never that—but to respond to it. To stay with it. To let it lead.
I’m an artist and a mother. She is tiny and wildly honest. When we make together, there’s a tension I love: her instinct + my intention. Her chaos + my editing. Her now + my experience.
This is not a craft class. It’s not about outcomes. It’s a shared creative practice—something you return to, the same way you return to a walk or a morning coffee. The point is the time inside it.
What we’re making
Sometimes it’s collaborative paintings. Sometimes it’s overlaid doodles with refined linework. Sometimes it’s her marks becoming the raw layer I respond to—then I stop before the life disappears.
If you want to begin today
Start small and keep it gentle: big paper, a limited palette, and ten minutes with no goal. Let your little begin. Then you respond.
The 10-Minute Table Setup
The simplest way to start: respond, don’t correct.
A Minimal Starter Kit (Ages 2–5)
The handful of supplies we actually use, again and again.
